From Late-Night Munchies to Balanced Bites
Hi, I’m Cheryl Ong Li Wen. I wasn’t always mindful of what I ate. Maggi goreng after class, bubble tea between errands, and fried snacks while catching up on K-dramas made up my go-to meals. That kind of eating brought joy—until it didn’t.

As work hours stretched and sleep shrank, my energy plummeted. Weight shifted unpredictably. I felt sluggish, even on light days. Eventually, my body made it clear: something had to change.
That turning point made me rethink everything, especially what ended up on my plate.
In Singapore, food isn’t just sustenance—it’s part of how we bond, celebrate, and unwind. Hawker stalls, food courts, and home kitchens all shape our daily rhythm. Yet I couldn’t stop asking: why should eating better mean giving up flavour?
GOODFOODEVERYDAY.SG started with that question in mind.
Cooking That Fits Real Life
Balancing a full-time job with healthy eating isn’t as easy as online posts make it seem. After a long day, complicated recipes and endless prep just aren’t practical. I wanted food that worked for real life—quick, comforting, and nourishing without too much cleanup.
That’s when I began experimenting in my own kitchen. Stir-fries with just enough sauce to satisfy. Soups that healed without simmering forever. One-pan wonders that required minimal washing up. Every dish had to hit the mark—flavourful, balanced, and easy to repeat.
Over time, I collected recipes that fit into busy days but still made me feel cared for. Whether it’s a bowl of chicken porridge on a rainy evening or sambal tofu after a draining shift, each one has a backstory that starts at home.
And that’s what I now share with you here.
Local Flavour, Always
Eating well doesn’t mean losing touch with the taste of home. In fact, I believe local flavour is what keeps healthy food sustainable.
My recipes use familiar elements—rempah from wet markets, dark soy for depth, or a handful of curry leaves for that warm finish. Those touches bring comfort. They also remind us that wellness doesn’t need to look or taste foreign.
Rather than reinventing every dish, I prefer keeping things grounded. No gimmicks. No forcing substitutions that don’t make sense. Just clean, flavour-packed food, with ingredients you already know and love.
Healthier choices can still taste like home.
Why GOODFOODEVERYDAY.SG Exists
I never set out to create a diet blog or a platform for clean eating trends. This space was born from a genuine need—for recipes that support real life, without the guilt.
Everyone has days when energy runs low and stress runs high. On those days, food should nourish without requiring perfection.
Every recipe I publish is tested and re-tested. If it’s too time-consuming, confusing, or just doesn’t bring joy, it doesn’t make the cut. Because I’ve been that person—tired, hungry, staring into a fridge wondering what to cook that won’t take forever.
So if you’re someone who wants more from food—flavour, function, familiarity—you’re in the right place. Maybe you cook to relax, or maybe you just want something better than instant noodles. Either way, you’re welcome here.
Let’s Makan Together
GOODFOODEVERYDAY.SG celebrates small wins. Swapping soda for water. Tossing spinach into your rice. Choosing a home-cooked lunch over takeaway. No one needs to be perfect to feel better.
You’ll find recipes that offer comfort, support, and maybe even joy. And if you have ideas or feedback, I want to hear them. This isn’t a one-way street—it’s a community kitchen.
Let’s build better meals, share honest stories, and makan well—one simple dish at a time.
