Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 8 slices Bread rye or sourdough
  • 4 slices Cheese Swiss or American
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  2. 2. Form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. 3. In the same skillet, cook patties over medium heat until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. 4. Place a slice of cheese on each patty and let it melt.
  5. 5. Toast bread slices in the skillet until golden brown.
  6. 6. Assemble the patty melts by placing a patty with melted cheese and caramelized onions between two slices of toasted bread.
