Ingredients

  • 2 cups Milk
  • 4 Egg yolks
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Heat milk in a saucepan until hot but not boiling.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale.
  3. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Serve warm or chilled.
