Ingredients

  • 1 whole Chicken about 3-4 pounds
  • 2 large Carrots peeled and chopped
  • 2 stalks Celery chopped
  • 1 large Onion quartered
  • 3 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black peppercorns
  • 2 leaves Bay leaves
  • 8 cups Water

Instructions 

  1. 1. Place the chicken in a large pot and cover with water.
  2. 2. Add the carrots, celery, onion, garlic, salt, peppercorns, and bay leaves.
  3. 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours.
  4. 4. Remove the chicken and strain the broth through a strainer.
  5. 5. Let the broth cool, then refrigerate or freeze for later use.
