Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Steak (Ribeye or New York Strip) about 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper freshly ground
  • 2 cloves Garlic smashed
  • 2 sprigs Fresh Thyme
  • 2 tablespoon Butter

Instructions 

  1. 1. Take the steaks out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. 2. Preheat your cast iron pan over high heat until it's smoking hot.
  3. 3. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. 4. Add olive oil to the pan and swirl to coat. Place the steaks in the pan and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. 5. Add the smashed garlic, fresh thyme, and butter to the pan. Baste the steaks with the melted butter using a spoon.
  6. 6. Continue cooking until the steaks reach your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
  7. 7. Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
