Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
